Obtaining A Disabled Persons Freedom Pass
The disabled person’s travel pass, known as the Freedom Pass, gives you free travel on buses, the tube, trains, Docklands Light Railway and trams in London. A disabled person’s Freedom Pass is available to London residents with eligible disabilities. You can apply for this Freedom Pass by downloading and completing our Freedom Pass application form, Getting a Freedom Pass online in LondonWe will assess your application and, if you qualify for a pass, your Freedom Pass will be posted directly to you. It can take six weeks to fully process your Freedom Pass application form. This is to allow for proof of address checks, screening of application and where relevant, attendance at our mobility assessment clinic.
Futhermore, It will take longer for a decision to be made if you do not supply all the information required, including information to prove your eligibility and also your residency. But through this process, your applications take up to 3 working days
If you are applying under the category ‘would be refused a driving licence other than on the grounds of persistent misuse of drugs or alcohol’ then you must send a fitness to drive form. This should be completed by a medical professional.

Your Freedom Pass is valid on all Transport for London buses (in the Greater London area) London Underground (the ‘tube’), Overground and Docklands Light Railway network and London Trams from 9am on weekdays and at any time on weekends and bank holidays.Your pass is also valid on local bus services run by other bus companies which are outside the TfL bus network.Usually your pass will be valid Monday–Friday 9.30am–11pm and anytime at weekends and on public holidays.
